Is the Crypto Bear Market Finally on Its Way Out?

Cryptocurrency markets are showing signs they may be emerging from a prolonged bear phase, with Bitcoin breaking through key resistance and Dogecoin poised to gain ground. Could this be the start of a major turnaround for crypto investors?

Is the Worst Behind Crypto Investors?

Bitcoin soared past $61,000 recently, a milestone that pulled it back from a frustrating dip and hinted that the crypto bear market could finally be easing. While the market remains volatile with substantial liquidations—over $450 million wiped out in one day—the momentum shift is hard to ignore. Ethereum crept into the mid $16,000s, XRP and Dogecoin joined the rally, adding fuel to bullish narratives.

But this optimism comes with caution. Market watchers often appear too confident in predicting precise movements. Nobody knows for sure what the future holds—it will have to be proven in time.

Looking Back to Understand What’s Ahead

The recent bear market, which began around October or November the previous year and bottomed out in June, mirrors the timeline of the last major crypto downturn from late 2021 to mid-2022. After that period, Bitcoin entered an accumulation phase, trading sideways for months before slowly ascending. That phase was key—it transformed a low near $15,000 into a stunning climb to over $126,000, nearly a 10x increase.

It’s tempting to think history might repeat itself, with Bitcoin entering a similar accumulation and then a bull run. But anyone expecting an identical replay might be setting themselves up for disappointment—conditions and stakes have changed. For instance, moving from $15,000 to $150,000 is far easier than pushing from $50,000 to $500,000 due to the scale and investor dynamics involved.

What About Dogecoin and Other Altcoins?

Dogecoin, notably, has tracked Bitcoin through these cycles but thrives especially during periods of ‘extreme greed’—those euphoric moments when speculation runs wild. The last spell of such greed was back in 2024, and the meme coin market splashes brightest in these bullish storms. If a strong bull market takes hold, Dogecoin could outpace even Bitcoin and Ethereum for a time.

This makes the current lull a crucial chance to accumulate, but with the usual caveats: cryptocurrency investment is speculative, and diversification is key to managing risk. Some altcoins, like Bitcoin Hyper, which focuses on layer two blockchain solutions, are drawing interest for their innovation potential.

Why the Bull Market Is Not Dead

There’s a vocal minority questioning whether crypto’s next big bull run will ever come. But underlying cycles and market history suggests otherwise. Just like after the 2017 boom and bust, accumulation phases set the foundation for meteoric rises. The notion that this one cycle will break tradition and no bull market will resume feels less likely than Bitcoin reaching $500,000—though that too isn’t guaranteed.

Whether or not the crypto market sparks a new rally depends on multiple factors, from institutional investment flows to regulatory influences. What’s clear is many seasoned players are watching the accumulation phase with intense interest, knowing that in this game, timing and patience often reward those who stay the course.
