Is the Crypto Bear Market Ending? Dogecoin Shows Early Signs of a Rally

After months of bearish trends, signs are emerging that the crypto bear market could be on the verge of ending. Bitcoin and Dogecoin are making notable moves upward, stirring hope among investors that a new bullish cycle might be starting.

Crypto Markets Stir as Bitcoin and Dogecoin Rally

Markets are showing new life as leading cryptocurrencies climbed on Wednesday, even as traditional stocks pulled back following Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s comments about persistent inflation concerns. Bitcoin surged past $61,000 briefly before a minor retreat, settling near $61,400. Ethereum’s price edged into the $16,000 range, approaching $17,000, while XRP and Dogecoin also recorded gains.

The crypto landscape is volatile, with over $450 million liquidated in 24 hours—including $279 million in short positions—highlighting the intense trading activity. This shake-up hints at a shifting tide after a prolonged period of market fatigue.

What History Tells Us About the Current Bear Market

Looking at Bitcoin’s long-term price charts reveals that this bear market began around October–November of one year and bottomed around June the next. This pattern mirrors the previous cycle from 2021 to 2022, which also saw a drop from October to June. After hitting that low point, Bitcoin entered an accumulation phase characterized by sideways trading, followed by a steady climb that eventually led to a nearly 10-fold increase—from $15,000 to $126,000.

There’s no certainty that history will replicate exactly, but if a similar pattern plays out now, it suggests we may have already hit the bottom. The key will be in the accumulation phase that typically precedes a bull run. Unlike the past, achieving a tenfold increase will be tougher given Bitcoin’s higher valuation baseline and the necessity for more significant institutional involvement.

Can Dogecoin Ride the Next Wave of Greed?

Dogecoin has tracked Bitcoin closely throughout previous cycles but remains more speculative. Meme coins like Dogecoin thrive in periods marked by extreme greed, something largely absent since around 2024. However, when such market sentiment returns, Dogecoin could rise faster than major coins like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Some investors remain skeptical about another bull run, doubting if it will ever come again. But it’s hard to imagine a future where crypto bulls never return. Historically, after every bear market, there’s been a phase of accumulation and then a surge. If that rhythm holds, Dogecoin and other altcoins stand to benefit significantly once greed returns.

Investors looking to position themselves for a possible upswing might consider diversifying their portfolios, keeping an eye on projects innovating in the blockchain space. Some, like Bitcoin Hyper, are working on important layer-two solutions that could unlock new value. That said, as always, caution and research remain critical in the crypto world.
