Is the Crypto Bear Market Really Ending? Dogecoin and Bitcoin Insights

Cryptocurrency markets might be signaling a turn for the better. Bitcoin is climbing back above $61,000, and Dogecoin is catching attention as the bear market shows signs of fatigue.

Crypto bulls are seizing on early signs that the relentless bear market may finally be losing steam, and Dogecoin is one of the tokens generating buzz. Bitcoin has cracked above $61,000 recently, bouncing back from a dip to just under $59,000. Ethereum and XRP are also showing gains, lending hope to many investors weary from months of sideways or downward movement.

These positive shifts coincide with Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s comments that inflation remains stubbornly high—above the 2% target—which continues to unsettle traditional markets even as cryptos rebound. Over $450 million worth of crypto positions were liquidated in the past 24 hours, including 279 million in short positions, highlighting the intense recent volatility.

Looking at Bitcoin’s weekly chart reveals a fascinating pattern. This bear market kicked off around October or November and has stretched to June, closely mirroring the previous crypto bear run from late 2021 to mid-2022. Historically, after this painful descending phase, Bitcoin entered a period of accumulation—trading sideways before mounting a strong, steady rally that took it from $15,000 all the way to an astonishing $126,000, nearly a 10x increase.

Is history about to repeat itself? While there’s no guarantee the market will follow the same script, if it does, investors might be sitting at the bottom of the cycle right now—poised to accumulate before the next bull run unfolds. Of course, climbing from a base of $50,000 to, say, half a million would demand far more institutional investment and bigger market moves than the previous leap.

Going further back, the 2017 bull market followed a similar trajectory. After a period of decline and sideways accumulation, prices exploded higher. Some skeptics argue this cycle won’t repeat, but why would this cycle be the exception in crypto history?

Dogecoin, often dismissed as a meme coin, thrives during periods of strong market greed—something we haven’t really witnessed since early 2024. When extreme greed returns, Dogecoin could outpace many big players like Bitcoin and Ethereum, given its explosive history in bullish environments.

For those looking to position themselves, now might be the time to diversify crypto holdings and consider accumulation strategies. Bitcoin Hyper is also gaining attention for its work on layer two blockchains, offering another potential play in this evolving market landscape.
