15 Brand New Games Unveiled at Gamescom 2026 to Watch Out For

Gamescom 2026 dropped a slate of surprising new games that caught the industry off guard. From isometric adventures to co-op shooters and remastered classics, the lineup promises plenty for gamers to get excited about.

Isometric Style Dominates with Fresh Twists

Dust Origins, landing at number 15, sets the tone for one of the event’s hottest trends — the return of the isometric perspective. Airship Syndicate, known for Battle Chasers: Nightwar and Darksiders: Genesis, veers away from fantasy and into a high-paced, twin-stick shooter aboard a spaceship. Designed as a single-player adventure, it skips the grind-heavy trappings of many modern games. However, its Kickstarter funding still looms over it, delaying any immediate deep dive into gameplay. Still, the visuals and promise of fresh gameplay caught attention.

Exterminauts at 14 amps up the co-op shooter action. Bearing strong resemblances to Helldivers 2 and Deep Rock Galactic, the game sends squads on missions to protect alien infrastructure, balancing main and side objectives for in-game cash. While the formula isn’t groundbreaking, its addictive potential is clear — and the developers confidently aim for a 2027 release.

In a lighter vein, 1001 Threads of Misan takes players on Arabian Nights-inspired journeys flying on magic carpets in one- to three-player co-op. Though the trailer was pure CGI, a pre-alpha was ready on the show floor, inviting hands-on impressions. Then there’s Humankind 2 at 12, a PC strategy sequel that’s quietly shaking up the genre. It introduces a climate mechanic where environmental factors like droughts alter gameplay and progression across ages, challenging the static maps common in the genre. This truly sounds like a fresh breath for those worn out by Civilization’s recent missteps.

Mura—another isometric contender—embraces a twisted fairy tale world where players bash distorted foes. Its art style draws comparisons to Rain Man crossed with Little Big Adventure, hinting at a charming yet intense hack-and-slash experience promised for 2027 as well.

Co-op Creativity and Classics Reimagined

Age Twisters brings an unusual co-op puzzle twist: freely changing your character’s age to solve challenges. While the visuals might feel off-putting to some, the local co-op play and mechanics that only require one copy of the game stand out. This definitely targets those who enjoy shared couch gaming.

Elda Defy All Gods plunges back to the Xbox 360 era with heavy melee combat and platforming wrapped in a sci-fi fantasy setting. Dreamscaper developers take a bold gamble with this indie title, opting to revive a style less explored lately — an old-school action melee game that’s a bit of a wildcard.

Noticefall ventures into dark fantasy inspired by Eastern mythology, a somewhat fresh source of inspiration for its publisher known for anime-influenced titles. Its focus on hunting mythological creatures in a co-op environment teases a potentially rich experience despite its familiar genre trappings. No platforms or release dates have been announced yet.

Shooting, Strategy, and Lego Fun

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics finally nails an idea many have waited for—an XCOM-style tactical game infused with environmental destruction and synchronized breaching tactics. Ubisoft has cultivated this license wisely, and if the tactical balance holds, this could be a major hit filling a gap left by the lack of new XCOM releases.

Krafton’s Tarisland: The Unbound, inspired by Diablo, prioritizes hard-hitting combat over loot collection, featuring six unique characters battling in a dark Eastern fantasy world. It promises relentless action for fans craving challenge over endless grinding.

PUBG: Dead Dot Net stands out with 90s nostalgia and rogue-like progression, introducing bizarre abilities like healing by feasting on enemies. It’s a multiplayer shooter that keeps its exact mechanics intriguingly mysterious, drawing curiosity with every reveal.

Strategy Expands Beyond History and Blocks

Afterworld combines Fallout-inspired storytelling with grand strategy, tasking players with evolving a clan into a sprawling empire within a bombed North American wasteland. It puts survival first, starting players off as vault dwellers, and is the first non-historical Paradox grand strategy game in years — a notable direction shift.

Lego Skylines puts a charming spin on city-building with the trademark Lego aesthetic. Developed by Iceflake Studios, it aims for accessibility, possibly blending SimCity’s simplicity with Cities Skylines’ depth—without morphing into a heavy traffic sim. The visuals alone might sell it.

Beloved Classics and Major Remasters

Heroes of Might and Magic 3, the series’ most adored entry, is getting a 3D remake that stays true to classic gameplay while upgrading visuals and campaign presentation. Ubisoft appears committed to honouring PC fans with carefully adapted maps, balanced gameplay, and polished unit models.

At the pinnacle, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, along with the new expansion Songs of the Past, arrives with a surprise free update on September 29, ahead of the DLC launch next year. Beyond typical graphical and performance boosts, expect overhauled mount controls, smarter monster AI, skill tree updates, and new finisher animations—perfectly timed to refresh the decade-old masterpiece.

More Surprises and Indie Gems

Bonus reveals ranged from Grab Halants, a quirky co-op dog shooter with survival elements in space, to Love Song, an enigmatic minimalist puzzle game centered on exploration and discovery across vast landscapes. No Law impressed as a cyber-grunge immersive sim with heavy action, arguably captivating more interest than even Cyberpunk 2 might muster.

Game of Thrones: War for Westeros dropped actual gameplay showcasing an RTS hybrid reminiscent of Battle for Middle-earth 2 with strategic war map mechanics. The appearance of the Night’s King on the Iron Throne hints at new faction possibilities, sparking hopes among RTS fans starved for fresh titles.

Lastly, Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons teased combat blending melee and magic, potentially aiming to be the D&D version of a Witcher-style game—definitely worth keeping an eye on.

With so many genres, playstyles, and inspirations covered, Gamescom 2026 has set a vibrant gaming roadmap through 2027 and beyond.
